About Us

Who We Are
Uniquely combining the strengths and resources of two of the region's most respected brokerage general agencies, Professional Life Underwriters Services, LLC (PLUS) and Midwest Financial Network (MFN) have merged to become PLUS Financial Network.

This consolidation, announced to employees and the firms' roughly 1,600 independent insurance agent partners on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, has resulted in an agency with some 60 years of corporate experience in the life insurance, long term care, disability income and annuity marketplace.

"The new PLUS Financial Network is positioned to benefit both our stakeholders and insurance advisors, as well as their clients", said Lloyd West, FLMI, President, PLUS Financial Network. "Our combined capabilities and knowledge, along with an even bigger portfolio of carriers, give us a greater ability to place cases with the right insurers to get the best rates and the benefits clients are looking for."

"There is a tremendous synergy between our two organizations. Both agencies have exemplary reputations for customer service, and this is an opportunity to build even stronger relationships with our partners," said Ted Kotsakis, Chief Executive Officer, PLUS Financial Network. "Our size and our reach ensure that we can provide the most innovative products available, backed by financial strength, without sacrificing commissions for the advisors who work with us."

Known for in-house underwriting expertise, the firm specializes in creative plan designs and is a leader in the impaired risk arena. PLUS Financial Network is a member of Aimcor Group and proudly represents some 40 insurance carriers.

MIDWEST FINANCIAL NETWORK
After spending more than 25 years in the life insurance business as an agent, a brokerage manager and a regional sales director, Ted Kotsakis founded Midwest Financial Network in February of 2002. Under his leadership, the company has grown and flourished, building a loyal base of producing agents. With the addition of Chad Boreen as Regional Vice President in 2003, the company expanded its footprint and has become a leading brokerage agency for agents throughout the Midwest. Ted is very active with the National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies (NAILBA), the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU), and has served on product advisor committees for many top insurance companies.

PROFESSIONAL LIFE UNDERWRITERS SERVICES, LLC (PLUS)
PLUS was founded in 1965, at the very beginning of the brokerage distribution channel. Previously, agents worked exclusively with one insurance company, often times as an employee or captive agent. The opportunity that evolved gave agents additional carrier resources, should their "parent" company be unable or unwilling to write the business. Often this meant impaired risk business, and PLUS developed an unparalleled ability for getting these cases placed. As one of these pioneer agencies, PLUS recognized that its primary goal and mission was to support the agent and help them succeed. Maintaining a portfolio of industry leading companies and cutting edge products requires constant review. With underwriting expertise that is unmatched in the Michigan marketplace, PLUS had the products, services and expertise balance to deliver.

PLUS was acquired by the Albrecht Companies Insurance Group in 2007, from Comerica Bank. Natural synergies between PLUS and the group's other insurance entities (Action Benefits and Association Benefits) made the agency a logical fit, and a valuable strategic partner.
